Remote entanglement distribution in a quantum network via multinode indistinguishability of photons
2022
Quantum networking relies on entanglement distribution between distant nodes, typically realized by swapping procedures. However, entanglement swapping is a demanding task in practice, mainly because of limited effectiveness of entangled photon sources and Bell-state measurements necessary to realize the process. Here we experimentally activate a remote distribution of two-photon polarization entanglement superseding the need for initial entangled pairs and traditional Bell-state measurements. This alternative procedure is accomplished thanks to the controlled spatial indistinguishability of four independent photons in three separated nodes of the network, which enables us to perform locali…
Investigation into the gas mixing effect in ECRIS plasma using Kα and optical diagnostics
2018
Mixing a lighter gas species into the plasma of an ECRIS is known to enhance high charge state production of the heavier gas species. With this investigation, Kα diagnostics, optical emission spectroscopy and the measured charge state distribution of the extracted beam were combined to shed more light on the physics governing this phenomenon. Kα diagnostics data from two ion sources, the JYFL 14 GHz ECRIS and the GTS at iThemba LABS, are presented to gain confidence on the observed trends. The results seem to favor ion cooling as the most likely mechanism responsible for the favorable influence of the gas mixing.Mixing a lighter gas species into the plasma of an ECRIS is known to enhance hi…
M/M/1 queue in two alternating environments and its heavy traffic approximation
2018
We investigate an M/M/1 queue operating in two switching environments, where the switch is governed by a two-state time-homogeneous Markov chain. This model allows to describe a system that is subject to regular operating phases alternating with anomalous working phases or random repairing periods. We first obtain the steady-state distribution of the process in terms of a generalized mixture of two geometric distributions. In the special case when only one kind of switch is allowed, we analyze the transient distribution, and investigate the busy period problem. The analysis is also performed by means of a suitable heavy-traffic approximation which leads to a continuous random process. Its d…
Stationre Verteilung der O2-Drucke im Tumorgewebe (DS-Carcinosarkom) I. Messungen in vivo unter Verwendung von Gold-Mikroelektroden
1972
Analysis of the charge state distribution produced in a 78Kr + 98Mo fusion evaporation reaction utilizing the MARA separator
2016
Experimental results on the charge state distribution of the fusion evaporation reaction 78Kr + 98Mo are presented. The data has been taken from the 1st commissioning run of MARA (Mass Analysing Recoil Apparatus). Data from the charge states of q = 29 − 33 were collected. Here, q represents the elementary charge describing the number of electrons removed from a neutral atom. Results show an expected gaussian distribution around the most probable charge, ̄q. A most probable charge state of ̄q = (27.99 ± 0.20) was obtained after fitting the data. The value of ̄q was lower than initially anticipated, which was mainly a result of a less than desired beam energy delivered on the day of testing.
